***poof*** It was easier to put up preserves... no, I have not tried this process, it was discussed here about 3-4 weeks ago...don't remember title, but raw coins in clad or silver put into one of those provided vacuum bags to me is unproven and unwise. You'd have to get the chemical make up from the mfg. Just about all soft plastics that will mold like that have some poly vinyl chloride to keep it flexible. Good question?
<< <i>Do you know if there is PVC in the plastic used with the vacuum packs? >>
It's my understanding that any plastic intended for food storage will not contain PVC. I have several coins in Capital holders that have been vacuum sealed for years using my Food Saver Vacuum Sealer and they are fine.
Plastic Wraps and Storage Bags - Consumer plastic wraps and bags are made from three major categories of plastics: polyethylene (PE), polyvinylidene chloride (PVCD), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The plastic resins are petroleum derivatives. Plasticizers, colorants or anti-fog compounds may be added.
As long as the coins are inside other holders and no contact is made with the coin, no problem, but as I said previously, I wouldn't put a raw coin into a food storage bag and remove the atmosphere.

What About Consumer Packaging Materials?
