Did it seem like ebay was slow tonight, how will it be the next couple weeks?

I won 3 items for half of my maximum bid! I am not complaining!!! However I have a few cards to sell over the next week or so, and I waswondering if I should wait a few months. I am planning to sell some low pop PSA 8's that have been waay up in the past week weeks, but it seems like it might be too late with x-mas coming. Please discuss!

  • I'd be outbidding you but we're all roasting chestnuts and carolling with the Chipmunks.

I have a bunch of vintage commons to put up for auction, but will wait until after the new year.

No one is looking for a 55 common as a stocking stuffer.

I cannot remember the last time the stuff I search for was so "dried up" as it has been the last 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe it happens every year around this time (right after Thanksgiving), but I agree that it's been slow.

I hate it when I can't find things out there for my sets, because I just end up starting something different. image

I have been auctioning off my 1963 Topps registered set piece by piece over the past several months and my auctions this week are doing much better than most of the previous ones. But then again, it also helps that I am selling the stars and low pop cards this week. It's all in what you have, not when. image

Ebay will really slow down in about two weeks. It is almost pointless to list anything within 10 days of Christmas. Anyone looking for a gift will be in the malls.

Card biz seems real slow, but the other primary
collectibles are flying out the door.

EBAY is VERY busy, but brisk sales are category specific.

During the next week, some people who want money to buy
holiday junk will likely be trying to sell cards and other items.

Folks who think card prices are going to stick in 2007, should
probably view the next 20-days as a buying opportunity.

Unless one wants money to buy something else, now is not
the best time to list common cards on EBAY.

There will be some good stuff on eBay after the first of next month when the credit card bills start to roll in.....
  • I agree. I also had issues with searching for cards that I was selling. Some times the cards were listed in the search results and other times they were missing. Search results for "1959 Topps PSA" were erratic. I send Ebay several e-mails and have not received a response.

Several of the items are not even showing up on the completed searches for such items.

Not surprising to see the bad auction results if buyers can't see the listings.

Any one experience similar issues with Ebay?

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Search is perpetually broken.

One fun phenom is that by refreshing the first search
results that are delivered, you will often see vastly
    different counts and items.

The first screen may show 20 items. When you simply
hit F5 (refresh), the screen may show 12 items or
50 items. Each refresh is apt to return a different
number of listings; and, sometimes, totally different
    items.

Much of the slow sales have to do with buyers not
being able to search properly. Few buyers will know
to refresh the screen, over and over again.

EBAY's "live help" has a standard answer. "Your
computer may be causing this. Please clear your
    cache and toss your cookies."

I guess ur right when they are selling for about 1000 a piece, but during x-mas I like to spend more on myself than others!
