I wish ebay would leave well enough alone

ebay really pi$$es me off some times. I have listed coin collections for about 5 years now. Today I am trying to list one and I guess ebay has decided to"enhance" their site.

So far I can't even figure out how to list it image An example is for the item description instead of the blank field coming up so I can list my items, ebay has decided to give me suggestions instead. I don't want or need their suggestions image

So far it looks like I am going to have to use the html tags which sucks. In the past I have always been able to copy my description from word and paste it, but not anymore I guess.

Sorry I just needed to vent

  • Hi Rick,

I completely understand your frustration. I have not listed any items for awhile on eBay and it was hard then. It now sounds like a complete nightmare! Maybe you and I can come up with a simplified version of eBay and take their business. Then we would become millionaires! image

Man you're right about that. I haven't checked out your situation but they changed the graphics for surfing and made the type larger and bolder...and now much harder to quickly visually scan a 50 item listing on a page - I got a headache after scanning about 5 pages of the listings I search for! Dam idiots! image
  • Rick, sorry to hear that. Amazing how they'll alter or completely change things for a lateral (or in this case, negative) move but do nothing to address the numerous legitimate issues the site/operation has.

Stevek, I know what you mean. You can go into your preferences and make it so you can have 200 items per page on your searches. Searching has been much easier for me ever since I discovered that.

The new Sell Your Item Form (SYIF) has been roundly criticized
by old sellers, but EBAY claims "new sellers love it."

The best way, for now, to defeat the intrusion, is to go into your
sold/unsold file and simply select the "sell similar" option on one
of those items. (This, of course, will only work if you have listed on
the old-form in the past 90-days.)

  • If you are ok with copying an pasting from word, try this. Save your word doc as a webpage, then right click on the webpage and view the source. Copy and paste all that code into your ebay description.

I use turbo lister and they have both the standard and html versions. You can try that if all else fails.

    Good Luck!

Just put a couple spaces right after the stuff you paste and it will stay there.

  • I have started using Turbolister this year again after a long layoff and like it much better than the current set up on eBay's site. The last time I tried to list directly on the website the page loaded very slowly, I had dial-up flashbacks from 1998. And I found the category search feature to be laborious at the very least. With Turbolister I can make lists and edit descriptions throughout the week on my hard drive with no worry of losing a connection or having a web page lock up on me, which has happened to me in the past.
  • What webhead said.

    Very efficient.
