Is this 1864-L to far gone for conservation?

Can anything be done to this or is it to far gone?

Edit for this question: What would ANACS grade this as far as Net Grade? Any idea's?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Probably, yes. The corrosion appears to have eaten into the metal.

ANACS would probably grade it as AU details, corroded.
    All glory is fleeting.

Too far gone to be slabbed as "problem-free," yes. Too far gone to get rid of some of the crud and stabilize it, no.

[Edit to add: I don't know about ANACS, but if the worst of the crud were "conserved" away, I'd call it AU details, net VF-30 or so.]
