A couple of newps ...

After coming back from Egypt I finally had a chance to check-up on some local dealers. Nothing to add to my primary collection, but a couple of pieces caught my eye. The first one is a Haitian with nice detail/color and the second one is German East Africa brass. I like the crudeness of the German coin, and from what I understand - these were made from melted-down brass ammunition casings after the first World War.





I also checked some photo shops to see if they had ring lights for my Canon - but the only one I found was $400 I'm thinking about trying the one on Amazon for a hundred.

I loved it! I could have easily spent a few more weeks on the Nile I really liked all of the sight-seeing we did, and so did my girlfriend. There's a lot of history in that country. I wasn't a big fan of Cairo, though. Felt too crowded (but I guess it is, since 26 million people live in a city built for 3 million).

I hope to go again some day.

Thank you, JZ. I am thinking about picking-up the rest of 1813-1817 Haitians that dealer had. All of them display similar toning and detail.

Also, for those interested - I've hosted some pictures from Egypt @ Photobucket . They are in backward-chronological order, so I would recommend starting at the last image and work towards the beginning.
