Are you *-ing kidding me!?

So my wife bought me an autographed baseball bat off the Bay for Christmas, and pays $10 for shipping & handling. We get a card from the post office on Friday that it is available to pickup but that insufficient shipping was paid and we owe an additional 3.14. So we go pick it up, check the amount of shipping. The guy only paid $4.05 for shipping.

$4.05!

Charge me ten bucks, pocket 5.95, and I still have to pay 3.14 to get my item?

Merry Christmas to you too.

I dont know, but it sounds like the post office screwed up and didnt charge the seller the correct shipping price. If this is true it would be hard to blame the seller. I could be wrong but thats just another way to look at it.

I would contact the seller and asked for a $3.14 refund.
  • I just won a parking pass to a football game about 2 weeks ago. The seller charged $7.95 for shipping and handling. The parking pass arrived in a envelope with a 39 cent stamp.

I emailed the seller and told him that for $7.95 I expected some type of priority shipping. He said that since we were both in Va, the delivery time was the same so he didnt send it priority. I told him that I wanted a refund (7.95 minus the 39 cents). He arbitrarily sent me 3.66 which he said was the difference between priority and first class shipping (WTF???)

I should have neg'd him but I gave him a neutral (to avoid the retalitory feedback since I'm at 100% since 1998). I looked at some of his other auctions and found that he buys these passes and flips them for bigger money. I guess since I won this so cheaply, he tried to increase his profit. People like this give us good sellers a bad name.
  • yeah, trying to make $7 off S/H is kinda messed up.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

Sounds like the seller did click-n-ship and dropped it in the mailbox or had the carrier pick it up. If that happens it sometimes gets weighed and marked for extra postage but we send it along instead of sending it back, in case you need it in a hurry. Sending it back adds at least 2 days to the trip. Other times it makes it to your post office and if a clerk thinks it's overweight they'll check it.

$4.05 is the minimum weight, no way a bat should be $4.05.

If you paid with paypal file a claim for a refund.

You are probably right about the "Click-n-Ship". I have always's wondered if the PO checks all computer generated labels or just spot checks. I can see a lot of people trying to pull a fast one.

I paid $11.95 for UPS Groud on a card shipped in a 1 inch screwdown. So I am expecting the item to be boxed and recieve it in 3-4 days. So a couple weeks go by and nothing, seller says it was shipped and should be there. So yesterday I get a bubble mailer with $1.05 postage and marked Media Mail. Steam began to come out my ears and I sent the seller an email. He blames it on giving all the items to someone to ship and they must have made a mistake. So he gives me a $7.00 paypal refund.

So I emailed the seller about my concerns and asking for a refund and this is his response.

we do not ship our items
shipping covers shipping, handling, packaging, and storage.
the shipping is what we have to pay the company that ships for us
we offer the best prices and selection because we can spend more time with the athletes.

Sounds like a polite way of saying tough luck.

I will see how he responds to my reply. He has a pretty solid feedback score but if he still won't give me a refund I will neg him and let all here know his identity.

If anything, I tend to underestimate shipping costs. But at least I do have everything professionally packaged (at no extra charge!) and shipped UPS Ground, because they take better care of their packages and give you free tracking and your first $100 of insurance; USPS makes you pay extra for each of them. image

And people like you make it hard for people like us to know which of these sellers rip people off. I really wish people weren't so hesitant to give a negative feedback to the jerks of Ebay.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

People like me sit back and look at the totality of the circumstance. He delivered the product described, just not in a shipping manner that I expected. Ebay doesnt even allow you to report shipping issues as a major complaint although you can still report it and it does nothing for you. I have no issue neggin someone who substantially fails to deliver the product paid paid for. I think anyone with common sense can read my neutral comments and gain a very good understanding of the issue at hand.
