  • It's listed in my book as PCGS 4S1. The first sample slab variety identified based on the PCGS 4 slab style. It is a fairly common sample slab but it is interesting as a transitional piece. It still lists a grade which also shows in the serial number. But they were experimenting with changing the serial numbers on the sample slabs. Earlier ones used the actual PCGS numbers while this one uses 654321. Later samples would return the the PCGS numbers. This is the only one that uses the 654321. The last part of the serial number is also odd. All but one of the earlier samples used 700023. All of the sample slab varieties based on the PCGS 4 variety use 12345678. Sample slabs based on later slab designs all use "legitimate" serial numbers and I believe they are different on each one.
