Would you buy $5 G Modern Comms to complete set?

I need a few more $5 gold comms to finish my PR69 set. But it is hard to shell out 250.00 for the 1995 torch and 300 for the WWII etc.

Would you spend your money on somthing else or try and complete the set. It looks like the Modern comms have seen better days.

I need only one more $5 to complete my ANACS MS69 set. I'd pay moon money for it.

If it was only two more then yes.

I just started with this years SF commem and have no intention of filling in the prior years and have a hard time thinking about filling in the presidential wives $5 coins coming soon, which will probably be categorized as commems and be a necessary evil to acquire.

Depends on how patient you are and how long your time horizon is. If it's something that's fairly common, happens to be expensive now and you are on a tight budget, it might be worthwhile to wait for the next recession. They always seem to come along. Unless your goal is to sell the full set before the next recession of course. The other strategy could be to make some money elsewhere to spend on the coins, say the 70 First Strike game, bullion or stocks.

I would bite the bullet and finish the set. These gold commems are only going to go up. Just my humble opinion.image

When were those better days, by the way? Most of the rare $5s are skyrocketing in price, and even the most common ones are being dragged up with the price of gold. Gone are the days where one could buy common $5s for around melt (or even below!).

Why did you start the set to begin with if you did not want to finish it?

Collection under construction: VG Barber Quarters & Halves

I have bought a couple of modern proof $5's recently at melt. They are tough to find this cheap though. I just started doing this, so I don't know if it was very very easy in the past. Sounds like it was...

I started collecting about 1 year ago and have all the $1 and .50 PR69 PCGS. Have 3 $10 gold and 7 $5 G which are the most common. I was thinking about bitting the bullet and getting the Platinum/Gold PR for about 850 to 950 but dang everything is high even the common date are 175.00 +

If you only need 2 more coins to complete the set, just complete it.

He needs a lot more than two. It's a daunting, but rewarding task -- just don't expect to finish it as fast as you did the 50c and $1 coins.

Rewarding but profitable in the future or could the moeny be spent better elsewhere?

Of course the money can be spent better elsewhere. Collect for the enjoyment of it, not for any hopes of future profits.

Yes I guess you can say I am one of those people that have access to 1,000 to 2,000 additional monies every two months or so to spread out over coins. I enjoy them all from Peace, Morgan’s, Toners to Binions. I even have some like the box 2003-2006 nickels from the mint but can’t seem to let them go. I want to so I can add the 5 sets of eagles I purchased but I can’t do it. That is why I am asking. I feel my additional money will slowing disappear and want to think more on the investing and enjoying at the same time. Does that make sense? My wife is ticketed because she sees a coat or 300.00 purse and I see a PR69 $5 gold coin. 100% of my check goes to her but she still wants more. My little carry around safe with the handle has grown into 3 good size safes bolted to the floor. OOPS sorry for the rambling but I hope you can see my dilemma?
