You've picked quite a player to idolize.

Selfish, rips apart teams, gets coaches fired, dominant centers traded, cheats on his wife, alleged rapist.

    Yeah, what a winner.

    Ax,

I cant stand Kobe either, but why is it ok for you to use something a person " allegedly " did against him at one moment, yet when discussing another ( McGwire ) the word allegedly holds no water with you ?

Because there was physical evidence pointing to Kobe committing the act, while there is no such evidence for McGwire.

    'All of a sudden'?

He was a rookie in what, 1986?

He was swatting 49 HRs as a 'string bean'.

He hit 70 in 1998...so in 12 years he bulked up. Why is that so difficult to comprehend?

You guys want to base your assumptions on rumor and innuendo...please show me proof, otherwise, knock it off.

edited to add: stown, good to see your petty personality has reared its head yet again...what happened to the 'unprovoked flames' you say you're against in your sig line?

Are you privy to information that no one else knows? Do you have evidence that PROVES he cheated? If not, your witch hunt mentality belongs no where near the hall.

Would you call Mike Schmidt a cheater for taking a federally banned substance (greenies) in order to improve his performance at the plate? Or is that ok because the moral police (i.e. YOU) don't think they give an advantage?

I can't see how Shaq (who broke the Lakers up and not Kobe) doesn't get any of the blame here. Hell, Shaq eventually breaks up any team he is on when he doesn't get his way.

    War Kobe!

    Come home Jerry West
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards

Ax, mentioning McGwire was perfectly legitimate in this thread. It was related 100%. You commented on Kobes alleged activities, and I simply followed it up by noting one persons alleged activities are enough to condemn, while anothers ( McGwire ) were not.

Again with the personal attacks i noticed though..just cant help yourself can you ?

I swear, I have never encountered another human being in my life with a chip on his shoulder and poorer attitude than you.

This is all I am going to say on this, since I have managed to avoid getting into it with you and wasting my time for months now and intend to keep it that way. Have yourself a good night.

Dude, drop it. If you want to ramble on incoherently about McGwire, you should do so in the thread with McGwire in it, not Kobe.

What's the matter princess? yankees aren't in the news while all the other teams are making big signings, so you're sad? Don't take it out on me.

Now, let's see if you can manage to not 'waste your time' and not reply.

Mark McGwire was a cheating steroid freak and has turned into a lying scared steroid freak who is hiding from this all like the scared little child he is. Good for him. I suspect those voting for the Hall will do what is right and keep him OUT of the Hall where he does NOT belong for at least this year and hopefully much much longer.image

I'll assume then you are for removing known 'cheaters' such as Mike Schmidt who have admitted that they frequently used greenies to rebound from night games the day after?

    If not, you're a hypocrite.

greenies were not muscle building coctails that give a player super human strength that distorted many outcomes of games and skewed many stats and records forever. Sorry, but that one holds no water. You might as well blast the guy who takes a aspirin for a headache too.

Greenies do allow a guy to recover from a late night game to improve his hitting for a day game the next day, and it was a widely used substance. If these 'greenies' didn't give a player a definite advantage at the plate, then why did they take them?

You want to give passes to guys who have freely admitted to playing the game while on federally banned substances, but blast guys for doing the same thing?

That, my friend, is the very definition of hypocrisy.

Using your logic, someone who smokes pot is the same as taking steroids.

They would smoke some doobies, relax after a long game and go to sleep faster and harder. Because of this, they felt more refreshed the next day and performed better compared to had they not.

Most, if not all, ballplayers have smoked pot at one point or another during the season.

Do you see how ridiculous this is? Well, it's the same as comparing greenies to steroids.

    Don't compare apples to oranges.
