My friend just approached me to ask about a few coins his mother recieved from their grandfather. I was going over there next friday for dinner anyway so he asked If I wouldnt mind looking at his Mom's coins.
I said sure thinking she had a bunch of Walking Liberties and peace dollars and such...But I ask him anyway what kinda coins...
Heres a few he listed off.
$1000 bill (Its really pretty he said
Some 1790's quarter (he described perfectly, I assume its a 1796)
Tons of early 1800's halfs and dollars and cents.
And some "yellowish" coins he assumes are gold.
He doesn't know anything else, but I have no reason to doubt him. His parents attend estate sales very frequently and are huge antique buffs. Most were from his grandparents, but some were acquired at estate sales.
Either way Im pretty excited. The bill is a sure thing, he looked at it the other day. He wasnt too sure about the quarters date, but he said it is def. 1700's.
Worst case scenerio maybe another collector is born...best case, they found themselves a nice little treasure.

Sounds like it could be pretty exciting.

1. Don't clean any coins, regardless of how dirty they are.
2. Don't take any coin out of any holder it is in.
3. Don't fold any currency.
If everyone took this advice, we would have less destruction of these historical treasures.
Ddbird, I'm assuming you already did this, just providing a reminder for everyone else.
Please keep us posted on how this turns out.

Dinner is either steak or some sort of roast. This kid's mom is an amazing cook so I'm excited anyway

Yeah, I've got a $1000 bill.
The people who sent it to me said if
I don't pay it, they're going to shut
off my power.
What does it all mean??

<< <i>Whenever you hear a story like this frm a non-collector, please BE SURE to tell that person three things:
1. Don't clean any coins, regardless of how dirty they are.
2. Don't take any coin out of any holder it is in.
3. Don't fold any currency.

And if everyone had taken this advice, coins wouldn't be as valuable as they are, since they wouldn't be as rare
