Cherrypickers guide/ question
I noticed under the quarter section the 2004-D Wisconsin was listed. Will next year bring the Minnesota errors, & more importantly the OIV DDR's that I found?

If the timing on the latest edition is followed, I think they'll take orders in 2012 and deliver it in 2015. And somehow J. T. will stay out of jail despite the FTS's 30-day mail order rule.

In my opinion, fewer people will pre-order a coin book than before, which unjustly and unfavorably affects the numismatic authors who meet their commitments and keep their promises.

FYI: I submitted 7 2005 5c doubled dies to JT Stanton about a month ago. I submitted the 2005 P Bison SMS 'Type 1' DDO and 6 of the stronger 2005 OIV DDRs (CDDR-001 - CDDR-004, CDDR-010, and CDDR-017). JT liked the Bison 5c DDO and assigned an FS number. So that one will be in the next Cherrypickers' Guide (whenever that may be).
But - he didn't like the OIV DDRs and did not assign FS numbers. Based on what he said, it appears he is not a fan of the type of doubling on the OIV DDRs (and the Minnesota 25c DDRs for that matter) -- with doubling limited to a small portion of the center of the coin. Even though the doubling is harder to see, he liked the bison DDO because it is more a traditional doubled die. He said that this does not mean that some of the better OIV DDRs will never be in CPG -- but it pretty much depends on collector interest. He told me he was not a fan of the 'Wide AM' Lincoln cents at first, but later listed them in CPG because they obtained a strong collector following. The same thing might happen for the OIV DDRs. Only time will tell. I for one am interested in them - and I have found or bought nearly 30 different ones to date.
The only 2005 quarter doubled die that I know has an FS number assigned is the 2005 P Oregon 25c SMS DDR #1 (the FS number was included in the Numismatic News article on the coin). I don't know if FS numbers exist for any other 2005 25c MN or OR -- but I don't think so.
FYI2: Billy Crawford just released a new issue of Die Variety News - which includes another large batch of OIV 5c DDR listings, as well as a bunch of Oregon 25c DDR listings. Here is a link to his free on-line publication...

I also heard that Brian Ribar (John Wexler's nickel attributor) may be creating an OIV DDR web page similar to the one Ken Potter did for the MN quarters. If this happens, it will be another resource for getting file IDs for the known DDR types. Here is a link to Brian's web site...

Brian is also very interested in the new 5c Ocean in View DDR discoveries. So if you find any new ones, he would welcome your submissions.
