Mickey Mantle 311 fake?

Hi, I am an ebayer who recently recieved a card from a customer for some reason. I don't know much about cards, so I wanted to post this card and see if anyone can tell me how fake this card is. My dad told me over the phone that it may be a re-print, but i believe it is a fake and wanted to know for sure. Thanks -A

  • Is there any demand, even in the slightest, for fake cards like this? Is it illegal to sell this on Ebay, even if you state FAKE, several times?

there have been many posts on how to read the fakes on this card. Just search for Mantle and Fake or Mantle and Reprint and you will learn quickly that yours is not authentic

  • Is there any demand, even the slightest for fake cards, or is it just plain wrong to do anything but discard this fake in the trash? Thanks !

Why is there always this phrase when fake Mantle rookies appear?

Stingray, Thanks for the back scan. I prolly will never be able to own one, but seeing a close up of the real thing compared to the scan above really shows how bad the fakes are. Hopefully you have saved some poor dupe some money later down the road. Great job. Joe

There are a couple of different variations on the originals. On one print run of them every card had 5 or 6 tiny print dots just under the fielding ave., around the .959.

The variation that had the dots also had a major difference on the front. The yellow box containing the yankees logo was not outlined in black on the bottom. Only the top and two sides of the box had the black outline.

The version stingray showed has the full black box around the yankee logo on front.
