The Jerry Remick collection of British Commonwealth coins

The results surpassed my wildest imagination. The collection was sold tonight at Spink's headquarters in London. All the results that I checked indicated a wild live floor bidding war.
British Cyprus* (*not sure if the link works correctly, but it is 19 items , all bronze, all Victorian, from GBP 130 to GBP 2700)

I'm trying to get the complete page for the Ionian islands, but no luck so far. Nevertheless, here's a couple of individual results:
1819 1 obol proof WW in exergue (cleaned)! (estimate GBP 400-600, realized 4000!)
Lot of 9 one lepton ,not a single one in BU full lustre, or even unc much lustre, estimate 400-500, realized 1500!
I can't even begin to imagine what the other lots brought. The above prices do not include the 15% buyer's commission.

I placed a book bid 2x the high estimate and bidding started at 4x the low!
I do not think I stand a chance at any lots tomorrow!

Holy frijoles! I figured out how to see the silver lots and saw George V coins from Cyprus and other commonwealth members sold for big money. I was surprised to see some go for 3 to 4 times the estimates. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one looking for those coins, but I'm disturbed at how expensive they're getting. Maybe it's time to find something even more obscure to collect.
Shiroh,by looking at that recent ebay auction of the 1921 9 piastres, you're certainly not the only one...

<< <i>In my opinion, these very high prices had a lot to do with the pedigree of the coins.

I didn't bid higher on that one because the photos weren't good enough to see if the obverse hadn't been cleaned. It looks more like a European "Extra Fine" than a BU (even by American standards, unless you use the "commercial BU" moniker I hate so much). If it really were a nice AU coin with no problems, I would have gladly bid well over $100 on it.
