Alrightey, then. Since the auction of the coin I wanted to know about has closed and I was no help to the poor seller who wanted to know (thanks, losers!), then I suppose the point of this thread is moot and we'll go with Doogy's palindrome theme.
Did you know that like Doogy's word RACECAR, the sentence "TEN ANIMALS I SLAM IN A NET" is also a palindrome?
It's the palindrome thread, now. Run with it.
(I'll go look the Austrian coin up in Krause, as if it matters now.)
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
Since Austria was on the silver standard back then, weren't their gold florins trade coins? (Sorry, I couldn't find a way to write the question in a palindrome.)
The silver florins are much more common than the 1875 double florin I spent years looking for. I don't know if any were restruck, though.
It's funny how you can discover how rare a coin is just by looking for one in any condition and coming up empty for years. The dealers I asked didn't seem to think certain coins particularly rare, even though they'd never seen one before. I guess Krause listings of mintages can give one the impression that some coins are fairly common. Until you look for one to get an idea of the surviving population, you'd never know how scarce a coin really is.
There once was a man fron Nantucket ... Who claimed he sold coins by the bucket, He said "By the way by Paypal, please pay" (I've got a final line but I'll let someone else try. )

Hope that helps!
