New Beautifully Toned 1885 Seated Dime--Exquisitely Original
If I recall correctly, I first saw this piece in the summer of 2005 when visiting Tumuss' house. I wanted the coin. After well over a year of waiting, with the coin's beautiful, original color and superb lustre imprinted in my mind, I was able to buy it recently, and it just arrived in the mail. Thanks to Tom for taking good care of this lady, and allowing me to take the reins for a while.
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do.

It would look better blast white, though.
Please tell me why you think this coin is original. FWIW, I'm not sold, ever, on this type of toning as 100% original and worry when I see coins such as this because of the possibility of speeding up the envelope toning process with heat.
That's not to say this coin is not attractive (it is) or I wouldn't proudly own it (I would love to), but I'm not convinced this is "exquisitely original".
Thanks for sharing....Mike

Super nice coin.
<< <i>You forgot to mention the extremely cool circumstances behind that coins auction Jeremy. That coin was put up for auction and the proceeds were donated to Toys for Tots. A true class act by one of the many big hearted people of the now defunct Open Forum.

Forgot to mention? Didn't even know! Kudos, Tom!

Mike, the color progressions are correct, and the colors flow smoothly one to another. Additionally, the the color lies atop the coin and mixes well with the lustre. To me, this coin was simply in the right place for the right amount of time. You can read more here
<< <i> This is a nice coin. Is the luster whats holding this coin back?? >>
The coin is very lustrous. My thoughts are that there are scattered, light marks that got the grade taken down, but no big marks that are individually noticeable. I also think the coin is certainly nice for the grade mark-wise.
