Can someone reccommend a common Seated Half or Bust Half (and where to get it)?

It's that time of year again (the holidays). After speaking with my nephew this past weekend, he told me he really likes early copper and silver. Being the coolest uncle in the world, I wanted to get him either a seated half or a bust half. I don't know anything about these coins, but I am sure someone here does. What is a relatively common date for each of these series, and which grade do you reccomend? Please be as specific as possible. Also, if there is a particular dealer (hopefully online) that I should purchase from, please let me know that too. Thanks.

Dick Osburn (and there are many other dealers also-his name just comes to mind) is good for seated and bust material... Almost any bust half is a relatively common date with nice coins available and not too expensive especially for the later dates...There are many relatively common seated halves also. I would go with a bust half-XF coins are not too expensive-i would recommend a XF bust half-he will probably think that it is neater. JMHO. Bob

  • The 1854-O Half is probably the cheapest one you will find, so for a very modest amount you could get him a nice Fine or Very Fine coin.
As another has said, go to Dick Osburn's web sit for a large variety to choose from.

Still pursuing options. Maybe I will play Teaparty against Osburn. image

I've got common Seated halves in just about all grades, and a few Bust halves. What grade are you looking for?
