BCS Bowl question?

How many BCS bowls....5? Wisconsin is ranked #7 in the BCS right now, but they have already accepted an invitation to play in the Capital One Bowl. Are they just snubbing the BCS system for a bowl they like or am I missing something?

    They don't necessarily take the 10 highest ranked teams.

    Several conferences (6? I think) have their conference winners get automatic BCS bowl entries...FSU (last year? I think) absolutely stunk, lost 4 games, but won the conference title so they got a BCS bowl bid.

    The other 4 are 'at large' bids which the BCS folk get to pick who they want.
