Giants Choke

I can't believe the Giants managed the blow this game. It looked like some players just quit in the second half. This loss is about as bad as it gets. What a job by Vince Young.

    Sickening.

Great game for Vince Young. He is everything Eli Manning isnt.

He is a leader. He rises to the occasion and takes charge. He inspires his teammates and fans. He carries his team on his back and never quits.

Wow, I was flipping to the Giants during commercials, but stopped watching when I thought they had it put away. Kudos to Vince Young!

Holy cow, I stopped paying attention when it was 21-0.

Were those Manning picks in the fourth quarter?
  • dont sleep on the titans, they are playing good ball and the giants slept on them.

    Titants have beat

    Philly
lost to ravens by 1 pt and had a fg blocked as clock ran out
lost to the colts by 1pt
lost to miami by 1 fg
and lost to jets by 6...

They are a solid team since vy has started.

Serves you right for giving the freaking ball to Jacobs everytime the balls gets close to the goal line. I hope the Giants lose
    out.

The Steelers are really struggling this year, but I'm sure glad we got rid of Burress. The guy has zero heart out on the field. Just jump up, man, and you probably would have stopped that jump ball interception...

    Eli stinks.

Was he any good in college? I really never heard of him until his last season, as the NFL draft was a few months away.

  • I went to the game and the Giants were abyssmal in the second half. The ONE play that sealed it for the Titans was the 4th down play were young was wrapped up and got away for a first down. I wore my Shockey jersey to the game and was embarrassed to walk out of the stadium.

You have to be kidding me. Vince Young all of the sudden stands for everything Eli Manning is not? image Thats funny, I seem to remember a half dozen games Eli pulled out of his a$$ for the Giants in the 4th quarter. But that dosen't count with the Eli bashers, nevermind the O line falling apart, the defense falling apart, and a bunch of thick headed receivers.

Eli has had a up and down season. But like ANYTHING else in New York, his struggles are getting blown way out of proportion. I have not seen this much animosity towards a Giant QB since Phil Simms was horrible for the first part of his career.

I am saving the bash Eli threads for a day down the road. image

    Dan,

Its not very often we disagree to this extent but I have to stick to my stance.

Eli Manning is not the reason the Giants won 6 of the first 8 games. Not even close.

Saying Eli pulled a half dozen games out of his a$$ is a stretch at best.

What I find funny is folks rallying to defend this kid, when its clear he is not even remotely close to the player he is made out to be.

He's not your typical QB but neither was Vick. However, VY is bigger and stronger, so he should be able to absorb more hits.

    Key word "should".

No, this is not clear yet. Sorry he did not shine right off the shelf like Ben (Look what happened to me now) Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, or even Tony Romo.

And lets be clear here since your last line quoted above is not even remotely close to what I am doing. I am debating the notion that this kid is garbage and will always be garbage. I see a good Quaterback in Eli. If I am wrong then I am wrong. That has not been determined yet. Its just way to easy to jump on the Eli sucks bandwagon in times like these. I'm not buying it.

No quarterback is going to last long being mobile and taking hits - just not going to happen. Throw in a mobile quarterback just isn't going to lead a team to win it all.

Look at Vick - arguably the fastest QB to ever play the position, and what's his team doing? Steve Young didn't win anything until he learned that running all over doesn't cut it - you gotta learn to be a QB.

Although Eli played a poor game yesterday, He and the offense did score 21 points. So I cant really put the blame on him for allowing the titans to score 24 fourth quarter points. That honor goes to the defense, which has been decimated.

Eli's tendency to throw terrible 4th quarter interceptions continues.

He makes a terrible throw that allowed the titans to set up for that last field goal. He deserves a good portion of the blame.

His offense managed 2 of those 3 touchdowns when they were handed cupcake field position after fumbles. From there, it was primarily the running game that got them in the end zone. Unless you want to count his 2-5 yd dump off passes.

And Dan, from where I stand it sure looked like you were rallying to defend him.

At the very least you were coming back at my original comments by laughing at them, which was more than enough for me to say what I did after that.

What part of my original comment deserved the laughter ? The part where I called Vince Young a leader ? DId Vince Young NOT show leadership beyond what Eli ever showed in that game ?

How about the rising to the occasion ? Was that the part that warranted the laughter ? Did Vince Young NOT rise to the occasion and take 100% TOTAL control of that game when it was needed of him ?

Maybe it was the inspiring his teammates and fans that you were laughing at...or did Vince Young NOT inspire a young, inexperienced, half dead team and quiet fans by his play in the 4th quarter ?

Or it could have been the carrying his team on his back and never quitting part of my comments that generated the lashing back at me and laughter ? Maybe I was wrong, but in the game I watched Vince Young showed zero quit in his body language and play that carried them to a win.

What Manning DID do was fall flat on his face under the first bit of pressure. When the team needed him to show confidence in himself by taking charge he didnt. When the Titans started to rally, and the fans became part of the game Eli looked lost, and even scared. His teammates feed off that. A good quarterback does not show the body language he showed. Vince Young does not show that.

Like you I am sticking by ever word i said. If time proves me wrong and Eli turns into a good ( not even great, I will accept good at this point )
quarterback in this league then great. I will be glad I am wrong, because in the end I am still a Giant fan. I just dont think its ever going to happen unless he does alot of growing up. It will NEVER happen until he becomes a man instead of the scared little boy we see most times.

Yep, was laughing at both of those comments. Brian, I am not laughing at YOU man. I am laughing at your take of this situation. And by all means, laugh away at mine.

#1. I was and still am laughing at the comment regarding Vince Young. Vince Young plays a great 4th quarter and beats the NY Giants because of alot of things gone wrong and he ---- just like that ---- "shows leadership" I was and still am laughing at that one because of all the miserable passes and bad games Eli has had , what he has done is play TREMENDOUS in the 4th quarters of more then a handful of games in his short career. He has shown "leadership". Before this awful stretch Eli was beginning to get a name for himself with his 4th quarter play.

#2. Vince Young did not take 100% control of the GAME. He took 100% control of the GIFTS handed to him by Eli Manning & Mathias Kiwanuka (BIG TIME GIFT). Vince Young will probably be a very good quarter back. But the reason I am laughing .... and still am quite honestly is that somehow Vince Young because of one gift filled game all of the sudden "shows leadership" and "rose to the occasion"

I distinctly remember several big games in which Eli has been absolutely dreadful in fourth quarters, specifically in big games (the first game this year against the Colts, and then sunday against the titans).

This seems to be an ongoing problem, his inability to make good decisions late in games, or am I mistaken?
