1976-77 Topps Basketball Vending unopened boxes

These are pretty sweet. Kind of interesting that they had vending boxes of these tall boys. Were there actually vending machines that could dispense them?

Anyway, certainly something you don't see everyday. It would be fun to open them up, that's for sure. Maybe because they were so big, this is the only year that I can remember buying basketball card packs as a kid. Perry Drug stores!

  • Very cool indeed! I love 70's basketball and it would be a blast to open those babies up and see all the dinged corners! image

I love that set. Topps made good use of all that space on the back. The college stats were very nice to have.

Bought a box of these from Boca cards (are they still around?) about 4-5 years ago for $625. Submitted about 100 cards to PSA, got 2 nines, about 80 8s, and the balance were 7s, but they were the biggies like Thompson and Erving. The two nines went for about $75 each, and the common 8s sold for $25+/- each. Times have changed.....I just sold 21 commons all graded PSA 8 for $4 each. Commons in 9 sell for just over $20, the pops have exploded in the last 5 years. The pops for most cards in PSA 10 are what the 9 pops were back then. They are not rare, but it is a very nice set. I am at about 92% now with a GPA of 8.35 and climbing.
