You could always make an offer for a lower price. $154,196,109 - $162,311,693

I was willing to throw $100 million at them, but these bastiges won't budge!
  • Hmmm....Now I'll have to decide whether or not I want to buy this or that Carribean nation I've had my eye on! image
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

    Maybe it's a Legand coin!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Somebody should buy it and then say it was a listing error. That's what would happen if it were priced at $1. I like to see understanding go both ways.

If it were superior I would have already hit the BIN button just to get their response.

In principle, I agree, but no one (and rightfully so) would risk it. While it would be an impossible thing to hold someone to, it's not, IMHO, worth the aggravation. Let the fact that no one touches the nickel be their hint that something's wrong with the BIN.

    Edited to Add:

Since they had a "Report a problem with this item/page" link, I submitted the following:

You currently have a 1964 PCGS DCAM Jefferson nickel listed at $178,225,000.00. A DCAM Jefferson nickel from 1964 is worth ~ $70.00 at PF68. I therefore believe this listing to be in error. I hope you can fix it in time to make the sale.

    Regards,

    Brian Hartman

The Heritage coin is a 1964 PCGS DCAM-69, so it could be worth $178 million even though a DCAM-68 is only worth $70. Doesn't everyone on the Boards know that the moderns go way up in value for another grading point? image

Well, yeah, but a $178,224,930 difference seems just a tad excessive! image

  • wow, blatant error
  • Anyone have any idea how such an error can take place? Could the nickel be occupying the space meant for the Brasher doubloon? image

  • Hi, Everyone.

I just received the following e-mail concerning this item:

    "Mr. Hartman,

I have contacted our Director of Numismatics to determine a less ridiculous price for this item. Thank you for bringing the pricing error to our attention.

We'll see what it comes in as after the catalog is updated. image
