1986-200? Silver Eagle Proof Complete Series

How long do you think the US Mint will continue to produce these silver eagles? I believe they can change the design after 25 years according to legislation. Do you think they will retire the series? What do you think the long term price is for a complete series as the coin market seems to be softening up?

I think its time for a change, however having said that I am a little leary as to what the US Mint will come up with in its place. They have not been known for their artistic abilities in the past.

I think these coins are a basic backbone of the hobby and will be fairly strong for a long time.....

The big boys (not including the 95W) could take a hit however.....

I'm not sure they will retire the silver eagle. These are their bullion coins.... just like the Canadian Maple Leaf, Chinese Pandas, etc. It is a name brand label. Should not matter if the coin market is softening for these, as they have their part of the market.

Ooops... posted before I realized that you mentioned the PROOF version. Well, I think they will continue to offer, even if demand softens. Mintages may be lower in the future (but they still seem to be in a lot of demand!!)
