I think it is a real one, but harshly cleaned.

    Well, let's see:
    1. It's a raw coin.
    2. It's from China.
    3. It's on eBay.
    4. The pictures are not clear.
    5. It's being sold with an attractive opening bid price.
    6. Seller has feedback for basically low-value items.
    7. Seller has more of the same type of coins for sale.

Based on these 7 factors, I think I will pass on this auction. The 1847 picture is too unclear to be conclusive, but IMO the other 3 Seated dollars being sold by this seller are not genuine.

Correct. It is a genuine Chinese minted Seated Dollar.

    9. Half of his feedbacks are not decipherable. I don't get the
    "????????" gibberish as feedback.

The question marks are characters from double-byte Asian languages which western browsers and systems, mostly with single-byte character sets, can't decipher and display.

I deal with this on my job all the time when we get comments from Asian customers on some systems not configured to display them properly and which don't have Chinese, Korean and Japanese language support enabled.

Actually, anyone who would bid on it is too dumb to know it is a fake after they have it in hand

So the buyer will lose the $20 shipping (which is nonrefundable in this auction) and hopefully will get a refund for the rest of it? No thanks.

I looked at some of the seller's other items and there are some definite fakes there - like the 1885 "CC" dollar with the incorrect style mint mark. So this one is probably fake as well.

I reported them to ebay as fakes...should be removed by tomorrow morning sometime.
