Trimmed cards?

Would you ever knowingly buy a trimmed card?
If you weren't doing a set, would you buy a hard to find card if it was cheap and looked ok, even if you knew it was trimmed and would never grade?
I bought this last nite, it was listed as trimmed.

I'm afraid I fall into the group of people who have made ebay so successful ... the "I'll buy it if the price is right" group. If I felt I was spending pennies on the dollar I would definitely pick up a hard-to-find card I'd been after even if it was trimmed. PSA is great and I've just recently started my first few registries but everything isn't always about what a card would or will grade. The backbone of this hobby is still the personal collection aspect and I would have no problem adding to mine if all the other variables were right.
Nice pick up, by the way!

It went for $75 with buy it now, from a good seller. I'm happy to have it.
Link to the one I just won

<< <i>It is a great card. I just bought a raw one for $225 on ebay last week. Pray to God it is not trimmed. I will send it to PSA the day I get it. >>
John, I think you're ok with that one. It might be overgraded a little but the borders look like the right size. Real hard to tell from that pic, but the seller looks legit.
<< <i>I shy away from trimmed cards in most circumstances, but if I want an authentic card just to have one, I'll pick it up. That Hinkle does look like it has thinner borders both top/bottom and left/right, compared to ones that I have. Still, the card has great eye appeal, and if it is authentic, great. I do think, though, that $75 is too much for a trimmed copy. The Hinkle certainly sells for more than other commons do, but low # trimmed Chicles generally go for $10-$20 each. The Hinkle generally sells for 3 to 3.5X of what a common sells for in the same grade. The bottom line is, if you're happy with it, you made a good buy.

I don't usually buy trimmed cards either, but the card looks nice, I trust the seller, and I'm not working on a graded set. I haven't seen Hinkle for sale for under $100 in more than a year, I already have the same card in a 7 with no qualifiers, so now that card can go to somebody who needs it.
By the way I know of a couple Battles cards from the same set available if you're in the market, one is a 5 I think and the other a 7. PM me if you're interested and I'll try to help.

PSA 4's usually sell for $200-$250.
