1801 silver dollar value

i have been trying to find out information about a 1801 silver dollar i have.
should i worry about cleaning it? or leave it in its original state? which is better and preferred?
where can i find out the value of it?

but why? wouldnt one have to be able to check things out on it?
but how would i find out what it's worth and go about selling it?
i'd hate to get ripped off, or in better terms, taken advantage of, you know what i mean?

im not the type to play games, im very serious about finding out information
that was the first time i had scanned the coin
to get a better look
and was whole reason of asking if i should clean or not, because of the condition

Don't worry about these folks on the boards. Sometimes they can get pretty harsh or sarcastic. Develope thick skin and keep asking the questions. You can learn alot, they are great people.
