A young boy collector meets an old man......so to speak

While I was home I got the opportunity to peruse a family collection.

Many, many years ago I began coin collecting and put together some Whitmans which my father still had, and gave me to bring back home with me.

It's funny because my memory stinks but I can actually look at some of the old penny's in the Whitman #2 and remember when and where I got them.

No great coins in the book, no cherry picks that I'm aware of, but it was cool to remember back when I was like 11 or 12 and get a glimpse of what interested me way back when. I'll sit down with my daughter later today (who is the new owner of said coins) and try to take a walk down memory lane.

Alas, the steel cents are all corroded and will have to be replaced but the folder is full except for four pennies and I have no idea why I never finished. The old books need replaced but this gives me and my daughter a massive head start on finishing some Whitmans together.

I guess I'll buy the pennies on eBay and slip them in my change so we can find them by "accident".
