"Bust Half Fever" by Souders - Which edition is better to get, the first edition or the new second edition?
I'm interested in quality of plates or photos. Also, is this the new "bible" for Bust Half collectors?

Thanks !!! image

I haven't read the first edition, so all I can say is that the second edition is larger (by some 200 pages), so it's probably better than the first. He doesn't really deal in identifying varieties, so the photo quality isn't a major issue. The Souders book is good for background on the coins and how to collect them rather than identifying varieties.

From what I've heard from the Bust Half collectors, one should stick with the third edition of Overton for identifying Overton varieties, with Peterson a good second choice.

This isn't the type of book you would buy for quality plates or photos, this is more of a narrative. The third edition of Overton is still the standard for variety identification, even though the fourth edition is the most current release.
