Itza VAM thing.......Question about VEDS, EDS, MDS, LDS...........Lotza pics dialeruppers

I made up VEDS=Very early die state...
Bought this coin a while back because of the label, it's not like I don't have any 21 morgans lying about, the VAM 1 caught my eye.
So I look at the coin and it looks like a 1g. BTW, I think the grade is a bit generous.
I'm calling it a VAM 1g VEDS

MDS

Went to a local auction last week and found this one, the die crack on the rev. above the mint mark is barely visible.
Question..............when does the die crack by the mint mark first show up MDS or LDS
LDS

Remember it's not how you pick your nose that matters, it's where you put the boogers.

PCGS, ANACS, & NGC Certified Coins on My Website.
Herb -- Both of mine have the faint crack by the mint mark. So that is inconclusive. Would need to see an MDS with the crack or an LDS without it.
Here are mine -- PCGS 65 and a raw XF45:

<< <i>Just as a point of interest, nearly every single VAM 1G that I have seen is toned green. I've cherried 3 and every one of them was green. It looks like your examples are green too. Strange, very strange coincidence. >>
Not strange but bad photography, I seem to be regressing in with my pic quality.
the last coin is white
John...............have you noticed the dot by the mint mark??
it's on your LDS coin and mine also. My MDS coin does not have the dot.
the ANACS coin also has a dot in front of the eye.

Yes, I noticed it on both of them. I had not noticed the one by the eye though. The S break kind of overwhelms any other attributes to mention. However, it is the things like you brought up that will be very useful when we actually get down to cataloguing all the actual dies (not VAM designations) and their evolutions. I have half a mind to get a few bags of 1921 dated Morgans, set up a systematic digital photography station and do just that. The VAM catalogue is woefully behind for nearly all Philly issues, with many lumped together - much moreso than the lumping for the branch mints.

I have a VAM-1G that may qualify for your VEDS title in my sigline collection below.
It isn't toned and I can't see any gouge at the mintmark or dot in front of Liberty's eye.
It also doesn't have polishing lines at ST like your coin seems to have.
I'll have to try to dig my MDS one up later to see if it has any of the other attributes you are looking for.
As for my absence, both kids are in college now
If I only had a dollar for every VAM I have...err...nevermind...I do!!
