What's up with this 1805 quarter?

This low grade 1805 quarter is pretty crusty...the whole coin has darker toning and a lot of wear. There's a place on the reverse around where the eagle's beak should be that's indented. My first thought was that is was a hit or dig, but there appears to be a star in the indentation. Is this indicitive of one of the varieties or is it some sort of strike through or planchet flaw?

Post mint damage. There's another mark between STATES OF on the reverse. The reason the you can see a star in the indentation is that it was pushed in during impact. The toning looks like good ol' fashion silver oxidation. Full retail on that coin is about $75.
