Anyone remember MC Hammer? Check out his Too Legit to Quit video w/ superstar athlete cameos! :)

MC Hammer's Too Legit to Quit video; athlete cameos start about 3:50 into the video

How many cameos can you name? Don't cheat! I think this was so cool seeing all these superstar athletes (from 1991 anyway), especially the first one who appears; no one was a more popular athlete during this time than him. image

Notice the emphasis of Bay Area stars:
Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco, Chris Mullins

Is that supposed to be Michael Jackson at the end of the video (sitting in the chair, with only his shimmering gloved hand showing?)
    My Giants collection want list

WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
  • Cant sit through it again but I think I saw:

    Jose Canseco
    Isiah Thomas
    Kirby Puckett
    Rickey Henderson
    Dione Sanders
    Roger Clemens
    Chris Mullins
    Ken Griffey Jr
    Johnny Cash?

I don't know for sure one way or the other, but I don't think that was the real Michael. The hand's just a bit too fat and his face looked a little too dark for that time period.

Well, all of them are correct except for Griffey. Where did you think Johnny Cash appeared? Can't "sit through it again"; that was a great song from Hammer in his prime and you know it. image

  • MC Hammers history is really fascinating. He was one of Charley Finleys errand boys, was one of the youngest announcers ever, and even received the nickname "Hammer" by Reggie Jackson who thought he looked like Henry Aaron. Really some great early facts about MC if you ever get a chance to look up some stuff about him....

  • You mentioned he was an errand boy for Charlie O. He was also a Bat Boy for the the A's as well or is "errand boy" your term for the same?

MC did just about everything for Charley Finley. Bat boy, errand boy, gopher, announcer, you name it, he did it at one time or another. MC was a clubhouse favorite of all the A's......

That'd probably explain him and his crew wearing those Oakland Athletics varsity jackets midway through the video.

Roger Craig and Jerry Glanville were also a couple of others that I noticed. And yes, it's meant to be Michael Jackson at the end of the video as a joke.

Rickey Henderson's book "Confessions of a Thief" has a lot about him and Hammer. They were childhood friends, he talks a lot about hammers childhood aswell.

David Robinson is in there too.
  • Wow, what an amazingly bad song! For those who don't want to suffer through, the cameos start at about 3:50 in.

Is that Urkel dancing beside Hammer (the bits where Hammer is in the yellow suit)?
  • I remember Rickey Henderson with that atrocious flat top haircut...........geez!

    Chris Mullin
    Roger Clemens
    Roger Craig/Ronnie Lott
    Lynette Woodward
    Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders
    David Robinson
