What to do with 5 unopened ASE sets

What do you consider the best option for handling a box of five 20th Ann. ASE sets? I just received the shipment from the mint and it seems my options are:
1. leave the box unopened and put it in the safe deposit box for a few years then sell it unopened.
2. Sell the unopened box on ebay or the BST forum now.
3. Submit the unopened box to PCGS for grading
4. Open the box and select only the best coins for grading.
I don't need the money now, but I always like making a profit on coins so I can buy more coins. Maybe there is a 70 inside or maybe they are all 68s or 69s - no way to tell without opening the box.

If you want a sure thing, sell the unopened boxes. You'll probably be able to double your money.
Otherwise, take a chance and submit them all. That's what I'd do.
profit and sell them sealed at 200+ dollars a set, or
do you take a chance and the added cost of trying for
a 70 grade on one or more coins, for a much bigger profit.

2. Yep. If you plan on selling all of them anyway.
3. A gamble. Get a PR70 and you score, get a PR69/MS69 and you do ok, but get a PR68/MS68 and it didn't really pay off after fees
4. Sure, but only for the reverse proofs.
you left off 5. Open the box, sell a few sets now, maybe send in a reverse proof or two (if they seem "perfect") and keep the rest to sell later.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Open them up and check to make sure the Eagle's are still in there capsules. I think it's foolish to send a box to PCGS without inspecting the contents. What if 2 or 3 were in there banging around? Repack the box in reverse, how is PCGS going to know. I used a hair dryer to loosen the tape up, and peeled it back. It can easily be retaped and sent to PCGS. Are they experts in the shipping tape field also?

Are you serious?
My icon IS my coin. It is a gem 1949 FBL Franklin.

Good idea, is there a charge for the coins that didn't make the grade?
<< <i>No different than opening a brown box mint set, hit it with some heat, pop it open. Look at the Mint Set, looks like crap, back in the box, add some heat, unopened Mint Set. I can't be the first to discover this, comeon........................ >>
Well at least your honest about being dishonest. I guess.

You're probably right is assuming that others have done the same.
But, if presented as unopened, then it can be taken as misleading at the very least. I also don't know how the PCGS folks would take it.
I don't plan on selling any of them, just playing around and discovered how easy it was.

I'm not sending the sets to PCGS, there all 69's and some 68's

I am wondering the same. I did send in my 1st five sets for 1st strike and 20th label.
I have sold 4 pr69 rev proofs @ $295 each
3 ms 69 at $180 each
4 pr69 dcams @ $73 each.
A little over $2 thousand. I spent about $1400 with shipping grading and all.
I still have a box of 5 unopened no longer 1st strike, and I have a pr69 rev proof, 1 pr70dcam, 1 pr69dcam, 1 ms69, 1 ms 68
I wished I would have talked family into buying these also. The gold sets seemed a no brainer, but the silver sets are money.
I just don't know what to do with my 5 unopened sets either.

Not bad about a 42% profit, thats good in the coin world.
Would it cost that much to grade five Anniversary non-FS sets? Can the sets be graded under the U.S. Modern category @ $14/coin or are there other charges I'm not aware of?
