An absolute gem Bird/Johnson rookie. I'm confident it would have graded a 9 today if I still had it. It was a bonehead move and I knew it once it was gone.

Well, a few years ago I sold my 1976-79 Topps sets to help pay off some of my student loan; it's a shame I did, those 1978 and 1979 sets were especially beautiful. I also sold my traded/update sets around that time, but I can easily get them back at bbcexchance in due time.

No, that wasn't crazy at all; that sounds like quite a one of a kind item. I mean, getting a key rookie on top is easy, but try getting the rarest(?) version of the FF on top. Just like with my 1992-95 Fleer/Ultra insert project; getting the base set is easy (you just need to rip open a couple of cartons to get it), but think of how many packs you'd have to rip to get all the inserts.

Mine is probably a 1985 Star Basketball Michael Jordan. It wasn't in the best of shape, and I got it from a friend years before basketball and football cards took off. I think I sold it to buy a pair of Air Jordans when I was in high school. While I'd like to have the card back, I was stoked to get the new Jordans, too!
  • Just before I started on PSA I sold all my football RCs in one lot on ebay. I had a Payton RC (around a 7), a Montana RC (around a 7), a Dorsett RC (around an 8), a Marcus Allen RC (9 possibly 10 material) and a slew of high grade mid-90s RC like '96 Topps Chrome Harrison, Johnson, Moulds Refractor, etc. and bunch of '99 RCs.

Lot sold for much less than I would ever want to admit. Adding insult to injury, the buyer proceeds to leave feedback that says "BEST LOT I'VE EVER PURCHASED ON EBAY!"

I miss my Payton RC image

  • My 1980-81 Topps Basketball SEALED case..bought it in '86 for $80.00!!! Sold it when I went on Spring break/graduated college/got married/had my daughter in 1989 (yah..doesn't take a math scholar to figure out that one!! lol)...for a whopping $1100!!!

    Thought I was the king!!

There was also the 20 sets of Fleer basketball that were sold off between 1989 and 1994....I think the most I ever got was $1100 for one.....

and all waaaaaay before PSA was even a thought in mind!! image

86 fleer jordan was a GEM (coulda been a 9 or higher image )
82 Topps traded ripken was the best color I have ever seen. Almost like it was the first printed when they changed the ink. I have never seen a background sky so dark blue on this card again image

Picked these up earlier this year when I was flirting with the idea of starting in on these sets, but soon decided that it wasn't time yet and sold them off. Still, I miss 'em.

about 4 years ago I send 2 lots of vintage cards to Beckett for grading. The first lot was 11 cards, 8 of which were Mantles. 4 of the Mantles graded a BVG 8. The nicest one of the bunch was a 63 Topps that I am pretty sure would be a PSA 9. I bought it raw for about $300 and sold it for about $900 so I was happy at the time. I wish I had that one and the BVG 6 Red Heart Mantle back.

It's tough letting anything go of the Mick.

I hope you find something similar to replace it.

I don't have any auto cards but do have many auto'ed items including a book, ball etc.

    Good luck

I guess I have some occasional regrets selling my 1984 and '85 USFL Steve Youngs. Nonetheless, I had about $45 or $50 in them and sold the pair for $275.

Your right. That was one I miss. I didnt know if it was legit, got I got it cheap and needed the money so the deal had to be done. I want to get another autographed item from him but money and priorities are the concern. I know eventuallly I will get one and part of my motivation is my 4 y.o. when he gets excited when he pulls a Mantle HR from 2006 topps or I pitch to him and ask him who he is and he names Mante among 9 or so other players. I dont empahsize who was great and name many players but some stick with him . Glad Mantle is one of them.

Thank You to those who replied, sharing cards missed can be hard and has been done but I wanted to share my lost ones as I finally got photobucket in action. Happy Thanksgiving to all and Im glad I joined this message board as aside from the help I have received in my collecting niche I have read some good conversationsand learned the importance odf proper grammer. Thanks.

  • sold off a bunch of cards in a large misc. lot on Feebay a few years back. The one card I included in the lot that I wish I hadn't was a '66 Topps Pete Rose that was the most immaculate Rose I have ever seen. Perfect centering/corners/gloss. This was before I really knew what graded cards were all about...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?
