DiMaggio Items

Why does it seem like the market is flooded with his autographs?

Comments

  • Because most are fake unless you truely know where they are coming from. Dimaggio signed an extrodinary number of items prior to his death, most of which were inscribed. Prior to his death he signed approximately 5-7000 balls, 1941 bats, 5000 posters, etc.

  • I thought he wasn't allowed to sign bats due to some agreement he had made with a company. I was able to sneak one in at a show a long time ago. He signed it and some guy came running over to try to stop him, but it was too late image

Besides the fakes, was there a release of some of his estate or something like that?
My PSA/DNA auto picture of him didn't sell very well this weekend. I have a ball I was going to sell but because of the low price of the picture I think I will wait.
  • Yes, a lot of Joe D stuff came from his estate, but he had a deal with B&H aka Louisville Slugger, to sign 1941 bats, but it ended up to be around 2400....

Dimag stuff still does well, although I didn't get what I wanted for the ball that I sold. I was dying for a sale so I dropped the price a little.
