This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for...

Well, many things....

Cool coins, some hard-earned, well-deserved, PR70 grades on the SAE 20th annv set, a healthy family, good friends, and I will be reaching 10k posts (which is a lot harder now that the OF is gone).

So, if you had 1 coin that you were thankful was yours this year, which coin would it be (ie...post a pic of a coin you OWN, not one you drool (or worse) over). I'd post mine, but it is for sale right now so I won't.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I'm most thankful for a healthy family. Have a good job, friends, and some ok coins. Talked with a few Forum members I hope to meet one day. I hope as Thanksgiving approaches that we all remember what this holiday is all about, including myself, and keep things in perspective. Thanks Ron for starting this post. This one is still my favorite coin:

That it looks like we're finally about to sell our previous house (scheduled to close on the 30th) so we can get on with life and I can get back into the coin game. Assuming I can find anything nice that fits in my collecting endeavors for less than Mars money, which hasn't looked likely lately.

I'm thankful for a lot of things, but to keep it numismatic, I'm thankful for these forums, and for my thirtieth anniversary in numismatics this Thanksgiving. (Actually, Thanksgiving fell on the 25th in 1976, I believe, so Saturday will be my true anniversary.)

I guess I should be thankful for my grandmother and the VG 1936 Mercury dime that started it all, thirty years ago this week. I found it in her sideboard while getting out the silverware to set the table for Thanksgiving dinner. The rest, as we say, is history. Still have that humble coin.

There might be a celebratory giveaway of some sort. If I can find a suitable coin to give away. image

I'm thankful that this week is only 3 days long, so that I can get over my exam tomorrow and have a few days off.

But more seriously, I'm thankful that everyone in my family is healthy, school's going well, and that the worst thing I can complain about is merely work.

The coin I am most thankful for acquiring this year (one I had come to believe did not even exist):

I'm truly thankful for my wife and two kids that are healthy and make me proud, for my Dad who's my best friend, for my Mom who's simply the best in the world, for my faith, for this wonderful country we live in and for all the men and women who bravely serve in our armed forces many of whom will not be with those they love while we enjoy our meals and family time.

A very good friend sent this yesterday....I hope all will appreciate reading it.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered...
    Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives...
    Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies...
    Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you...
    Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone may destroy overnight...
    Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous...
    Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow...
    Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough...
Give the world the best that you’ve got anyway.
You see in the end it’s between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

I'd add a few more things, too.

I'm thankful for being married to my best friend for nearly 15 years, with whom I look forward to growing old together. I can't imagine a more compatible mate in all the world.

I'm thankful for good health, good friends and good times.

I'm thankful for all the love, smiles and laughs we've received from our "immediate family," our cats Kate and Abby and our Katrina rescue dog Reemy.

I'm thankful to my boss and my employer for giving me the opportunity to flee the big city this year, and work mostly from home out in a small country town in the hills amidst a beautiful, peaceful and safe setting.

I'm thankful that I have the means and the resources to even participate in a luxury like coin collecting.

I'm thankful there's a place like this where I can continue to participate in the hobby even when I haven't have a dime to spend on coins. I still feel a "part" of it even when circumstances prohibited much in the way of coin acquisition.
