WTF? Tom Izzo as the next MSU football coach?

The local rumor mill insists that Izzo is, in fact, one of the candidates for the job. And no, you did not just misread that last sentence.

Can the circus in East Lansing get any more pitiful? How much more indignity do we Spartan fans have to endure?

Why would anyone want to replace Izzo as a Basketball Coach... he has done very well. don't monkey with that. I wonder if MSU would consider Gary Barnet... the former Northwestern and Colorado coach?

It is getting some play in the local media in mid Michigan. A sports reporter asked him that question and he dodged it as best
he could, judging by the way he responded I think it annoyed him more amused him. I consider the whole thing a stupid joke.

If I'm not mistaken, Mateen Cleaves has 4 years of NCAA football eligibility remaining.

Poor Mateen, he had a great college career but was a bust in the NBA. Bounced around a few teams as a backup player but saw
very little playing time. I don't know where he is these days.

The more I've thought about this today, the more upset I've become. Seriously, what school in the history of the world has to put out a formal statement that their basketball coach is officially not interested in their open football coaching position. What the heck is this, junior high school or the Big 10? Maybe Izzo can teach wood shop and driver's training in the summer too.

Can you imagine Coach K "officially" removing himself from consideration for an open Duke football coaching position?

I need a new alma mater.

Izzo is a great Basketball coach and he is not going to get the job... the AD, among others, will have too much explaining to do. Izzo likely makes everyone's top ten list of active NCAA Basketball coaches. Why change that when there are several capable football coaches out there that would like to come to MSU... They may not be Duffy or Biggie Munn... but there are some that would likely do well if given the chance.

Yes, it is embarassing that the school would even dignify such a silly idea with an official response.

I have worked at the place for years and have seen many stupid things happening with the university as a whole but this is
one of the most ridiculous that I have seen.
