Western Union Stamps

Anybody ever see them before? The ones I saw were 5 cents and 25 cents. Complimentary is on the bottom. I've never seen these.

  • Those Western Union stamps are "Telegraph" stamps and are listed in the Scott's US Specialized catalog. They stamps with denominations (5c and 25c) were used from 1914 to 1946 and superseded the without denomination issues that began in 1871.

  • Thanks Richard. Doug and I were PMing about it and he suggested the same thing. I just had never seen them or been aware that they existed. Are they the only 2 issued?

  • Jerry - The 5c and 25c denominated stamps are listed in Scotts as #16T49-16T115. So, 60+ different that vary by who signed them, colors, printed year on stamp, printer name, etc. All catalog between 20c and a couple dollars (mostly 20c each). These are not highly collected and not rare.
