grade submission question

I just recently sent in my first coin submission to PCGS. I sent in a total of 8 coins, and I think the free vouchers qualify as world regular service (not really sure on that) - currently listed with a 15-20 day turn around.

They received my coins 12 days ago (business count, excluding the last black out period), so it's still early on in the process.

My question is: how long does it take to have grades posted on your online account?

I've noticed a lot of you post results pretty quickly, so far my order is still listed as 'Total Items: 8'. Do they update that status at all? Because so far, nothing has changed... it would be nice if it had some sort of status detail... other than "OK", although I guess "OK" is better than "BIO HAZARD" or "QUARANTINED" or whatever else could appear in that slot...

Could be anywhere from one hour to 4 more weeks. With World coins it is really a crap shoot. Hopefully PCGS can stay within Ron Guth's 30 day turnaround.

  • So for future submissions, is it really pointless to use world regular over world economy for turnaround times?

This submission was made with the free grading vouchers I received when I signed up. Running the numbers, it appeared I was saving money with the higher membership when I totalled the costs up, but it was close either way.

But I'm not sure how they qualify the grades for world service - the criteria didn't really match up with any of the submission levels.

d'oh! I didn't read you original post close enough. Regular submissions are usually done quicker but of course there are no guarenteed turnaround times for World coins, only US coins. I expect you'll have grades within a week.

  • grumble grumble... still nothing posted.

I was really hoping these would be done before tomorrow's blackout period.

Today marks the 20th day of the listed 15-20 day turn around for World Regular.

Funny part is that I was concerned they would be mailed when I was on vacation over the holidays, and I wouldn't be here to accept shipment. I have called a couple times to see if there was a problem or some such, but I keep getting the same response - it shows in process, no problems.
  • Well, I'm a little disappointed... still no status update.

Careful... your complaint could be construed as "bashing of PCGS" and result in your immediate bamming.
