I finally got my 1992 Ultra master set today!

1992 Ultra master set, with what I THOUGHT was binder and pages. Well, I got the pages alright.

Okay, this is the Ebay auction I won for a 1992 Ultra master set; see how nicely it looks in binder and pages? Well, I finally did get the package today, but it was missing something very important; THE DAMN BINDER!!!!!! IOW, the bonehead seller actually sent me the cards in their pages, but with no binder! This is a perfect example of why I took a "leave of absence" for a few years from card collecting because I got so frustrated with sellers cutting corners like this. Now, to be fair, the Gwynn insert set did include the two mail in cards which was not included in the item description, but still.

EDIT: Since I was able to find a spare binder, I think all is well now. I mean, this master set was like a one in a million find after all. So I did leave the seller good feedback. Like some of the rest of you pointed out, if the seller did include a cheap binder, I would've just replaced it anyway.

I understand the frustration, but the seller never said binder in the description. Seems rather cheap not to throw in a binder, although the one's I usually get are the one's for kids.

be happy the cards came with the pages. i do agree though, that is pretty cheap

I respectfully disagree. The dealer might not have said it in words but if you look at the picture, they were clearly in a binder. So the picture says it includes a binder, and again, who in their right minds sends cards in that many pages with no binder?

I agree. It doesn't say anywhere in the description about the cards coming with a binder. Did the seller mention a binder in their post-auction correspondence?

No, they did not. Let's just say the seller might not have violated the letter of the description but clearly violated the spirit of it, if you know what I mean.

How much do binders cost? Just go pick one up for a few bucks.

To me, it doesn't seem like it's worth all the stress and heartburn. You got the pages and you got the cards at a great price. Just go pick up a binder -- it'll probably be nicer than what you'd get from him anyway.

I'm not trying to pile on but I agree the seller delivered what was promised. I can understand not being happy but I don't feel like he should get negative feedback.

BTW I disagree that you should get it because it is pictured. Sometimes my kitchen table is in the photo and I am not sending that to someone just because it shows up on the photo. (However they can pick it up for a price)

Yeah, now that I think about it, the cards were very nice (from what I could tell), perhaps a neutral or no feedback would be better? I don't leave positive feedback unless I'm totally satisfied. This seller is also selling another set that looks great, but how I do I know the seller won't cut corners shipping it? It doesn't include pages or anything, but I'm almost afraid if I buy it, the seller will just throw it into one of those "fixed price" USPS boxes to save a few pennies and give it very little or no protection, and then all the cards will arrive with dinged corners or something (the package I got was not protected in anyway, but in that case the cards were in pages, so nothing happened, I think).

If not receiving a used $4 binder in the mail is causing you that much aggravation, maybe you should consider quitting the hobby again.

As I pointed out in the edited description, I do agree that as long as the cards were in "nice pages" and as far as I could tell, none of the cards were damaged (they weren't all totally mint, but that's to be expected from insert sets) and thus I did leave the seller good feedback, and if I get my wife's blessing, I'll also buy the other set this individual has that I have my eye on. With the standard "be sure to package it with plenty of peanuts/bubble wrap and insure it" of course, just to be safe.

1992 Ultra.. man, that's a blast from the past. I remember when they were super hot down here in San Diego when there was a huge baseball card show to go along with the All-Star game. The Award Winners set - which I still have singles of - is to this day, one of my favorite subsets from a design and photography standpoint. Truly awesome looking cards!

I'm glad you got some nice cards - that's value.

That's an important set IMO.

It's one of the first to use the full bleed UV coating with really sharp photos.

If ya find ya need any upgrades - LMK - I probably have a bunch laying around.

Congratulations on picking up a great set emblematic of the "boom" era of sportcard production.

Indeed, I was thinking about getting this set for a few years (I'm also going to get the other Ultra sets up to 1995). The 1992 and 1993 sets especially are quite beautiful. BTW, what were the odds of getting all those inserts? I want to get an idea of how hard it really would've been to put those insert sets together by busting cartons of packs.

This is right off a pack of 92F Ultra:

Collect the limited edition 25 card award winners and 10 card Tony Gwynn subsets ramdomly inserted in these specially marked pack. Plus find one of the hand signed Tony Gwynn cards; odds of winning a signature card 1:17,000. Doesn't give the odds of the inserts.

There is also a 1988 Topps Traded set in the scan, I think you should ask for that as well. By the way, you cant make out a binder, all you can see is the middle ring. So instead of asking for the whole binder, I think you are only entitled to the middle ring from the binder, and the 88 set.

In closing, Judge Jim awards you absolutely nothing for your heartache.

I wonder myself at just looking at the picture if the cards on the top right corner of the pages were not damaged. Looks to me like the corner is curling up in the image??
