An old medal. Can anyone read it?

Any thoughts on date, history, value? It's about 70mm.

    Give me a minute to translate. It's Italian, something to do with Venice.

    Also, let me know if you want to get rid of it! I collect almost anything to do with Venice (where my family is from).

    OK, sorry for the delay.. I got a call just as I started that last reply.

    Quick summary is that this is a medal from the Venetian revolutionary government in 1849. It announces Venetian opposition to Austria and goes on about the office-holders of the revolutionary govt. Here's my full translation. (Be warned! my Italian is terrible anymore! so much so that the last time I visited, I spoke mainly in German through my uncle! image )

    I should also mention that "Venezia resistera all'Austriaco ad ogni costo!" was a popular rallying cry during the time.
