Help On Valuing Cards For The New Special

Hello All--
I am running into a unique position for the upcoming special. I have some cards I would like to get graded on the 48 to 71 special at $6.00 a pop. Some of the cards I would like to submit are Big time Hall of Famers; the value of their cards can be in the thousands. Unfortunately for me, the copies I have are quite beat up and will probably grade in the 3 to 5 range. Coming in at that range, I think a fair value would be no more than $75.00 so these cards should fit. Any problems with this? It is not like I am taking a pristine 52 Mantle and trying to sneak it in by saying it is only worth $75.00; I am giving honest values on these cards in recognition of their collector grade condition. Any one else encounter this? Thanks for the input.

I would hope a PSA staffer might reply with a bit more detail.
It has been stated in other posts that the declared value, ( in this case a max. of $ 74 is permitted ) is only for insurance / liability purposes. If correct , a card could be listed on a submission at $74 value and is acceptable for the special, regardless if it turns out to be a low pop. PSA 8 worth several hundred dollars. It appears only true star cards would not qualify, as most probably would be worth/valued at $ 75 or more, if in fairly decent mcondition.
Of course if your newly slabbed PSA 9 of a rare single print from the 50s gets lost, PSA and/or the post office is only going to cover $ 74.

this is not true ,this is why psa changed it last year, there are many stars that are valued less and star cards in lower grade are definately worth at or around that amount . mid grade stars from the 50's /60's usually sell for less and aren't worht grading for $13 but for $6 there is incentive.
