Introduction

I just wanted to introduce myself and I hope I am not doing this in the wrong place. I did search for an "Introductions" forum but didn't find one.
I live in Kansas City, Missouri and have been detecting and coin collecting (Types Sets) since the mid 1980's. I started while in Texas and now that I am living in Missouri I was hoping to find some people from this area that might like to get together and try our luck. I consider myself a novice TH'er and am always open to learning from the masters!
One of my most interesting finds to date has been the "grave site" of some lead soldiers that some little boy buried next to the fence in his back yard. I am sure that he played "war" with them and when they were killed in "battle" he buried them together in a mass grave and then for whatever reason didn't come back to pick them up. They were also buried with a toy truck / jeep, but it was badly corroded and couldn't really make it out. Must have been a heck of a battle.
I have also found many coins (no gold as of yet, but I am not as serious a hunter as I want to be. Perhaps this forum will inspire me) and gold / silver jewelry. I do remember that on the first day I had my detector (A Whites 4900 DI) I found a men's 14 K gold wedding band buried beneath the back gate of my house. I mused that it must have fallen off while he was going unlatching the gate and there is was for me to find. Wow! Did that ever inspire me.
Anyway I have done a lot of reading on this board and feel like I have gotten aquainted with many of you in a one sided kind of way.
Best Regards,

PS. Is there a speel chkar on ths bord??

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
