This is bull ...

Auction

Do they get away with this because they're a Power Seller? I don't see how this can't be an "excessive S/H" infraction but I've reported this auction twice in the past week and nothing is being done. I'm actually kind of pissed because I saw the auction, went in, looked at the feedback, and decided to pull the trigger. Luckily, at the very last second I saw the S/H and pulled the ripcord.

This makes me mad.

Unless they get reported , ebay will not do anything. report them and see what happens . the Powerseller should not matter . everyone and their mother could be a power seller if they wanted to

Maybe I am being niave, but couldn't you factor the excessive S&H into your max bid. If you wanted to pay 40 Euro total (including S&H), then your max bid would be 15. Whereas if they were charging 5 for S&H, then your max bid would be 35.

  • Alfonz, it's a BIN ... there's no bidding. And that card would be a decent buy for the price if it were realistic S/H. It's no where near worth the total price of cost + S/H. It's a deliberate attempt on the seller's part to catch someone not checking the S/H charge.

PackCollector, I reported this auction today. It's the third time I've reported this auction in the past 10 days.

I am glad you noticed the shipping before it was to late. I made that mistake once. I got the sellers info from ebay and contacted him about the shipping cost. I asked him if it was a mistake and he said it wasn't. I tried to get out of the deal but the guy was a Di%k and said he would leave me neg fb if I didn't pay.

I'd say let him leave a neg, then you respond to that neg saying the dealer gouges on shipping and threatens you with a neg if you find out. Then leave him a neg for the same above reason. Cuz retaliating like that will only make the seller look worse.

If only 5% of all listings were in violation of the fee-circumvention
TOS, there would be no way for EBAY to stop the violators.

EBAY has been heartily complained against during the last 60-days
for cancelling listings based upon false reporting. The company has
now taken a step back and slowed (even more) the speed with
which they act on reported violations.

In the last 60-days I have lost two listings for "excessive S+H."
The FUN part is that I offer "FREE SHIPPING" in all of my stores.
Both listings were released quickly, but I went to the PS rep
    to handle it.

EBAY is an incompetent and lumbering giant that cares about
    nothing other than collecting fees.

The new "total-cost sort" is going to roll out after Christmas.
Eventually, items in most categories (cards included) will be
displayed in search results pages based upon "total-cost of
item delivered." (Primary domestic freight charge will be the
amount added to the item price.)

That scheme will eventually end much of the S+H gouging.

According to Alexa and Market Works anecdotal compilations
(not scientific) more than 70% of sales on EBAY go to items
that appear on the first three-pages of CORE search results
and the first-page of store-results. That is at the heart of the
    inflated S+H controversy.

The most pouplar search scheme is "lowest-price first," in
the majority of categories. (Not in cards; which is about tied
between "ending soonest" and "highest-price first.")

Shipping gougers do not care about FVFs or listing fees. They
are simply using the numbers to game search results in a
way that has made many of them millionaires during the past
five years. When the sort-changes come, those sellers will no
longer be EBAY participants; they have made their money and
    will simply move on.
