I have never understood the laziness that you need to look at your competitor's bid history in order to do your seraches. If you can't manage to search on your own, maybe you shouldn't be looking on ebay.

Really, it's surprising that they admit to doing it at all, much less cry that they have to, to "keep up with my competition". Who dresses em in the morning?

I am glad you are a leader.
I look for mostly for items from NJ breweries. There are dozens upon dozens of different breweries that had once brewed beer in NJ. I know 3 or 4 other serious collectors who also collect my speciality of NJ breweriana. Things can be found in the Ebay catagory of Breweriana but also sometimes things are listed in other categories and the sellers do not always make it easy with misspellings of brewery names, etc, etc. All searches I do myself. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LAZINESS. In fact I go the extra yard in my searches by checking out my competition. It is smart to watch my competitors. Several times over the past 9 years (I have been buying and selling on Ebay since 1997), I have found an item by checking my competitor's bidder list. Somehow I missed it. I dont know how my competition found it. But I was glad to find those items thru my competitor.
Advanced collector of BREWERIANA. Early beer advertising (beer cans, tap knobs, foam scrapers, trays, tin signs, lithos, paper, etc)....My first love...U.S. COINS!

Just a moment, I have to check what my competitor is wearing!

Correct: Looking up competitors bid history has NOTHING to do with laziness. I would call it working SMART, not HARD.
My question is this. If this thing called "shill" bidding is so bad, or even "illegal", why does it still exist and on a regular basis??? I still believe there is nothing wrong with it. No one is forcing YOU to bid, or even bid HIGHER.

Not true. You have phone bidders, and who knows if THEY REALLY EXIST!!!
Why did Ebay retreat on the changes they had implemented?
