1986 McDonalds NFL cards

Anybody know how rare these are? I know there are 4 color variations with black and blue being the thoughest and green and orange being the easiest. It's McDonalds so I'm assuming they made a boat load but I was wondering if anyone had further information on the issue. They're pretty nice looking cards.

Plus, they were given out one at a time so I can't imagine they weathered the storm condition-wise. I just like them because they're oversized and have huge pictures of the players. The colored scratch tab also adds a little flavor as well.
Anybody got an idea about a checklist? I think this would be a cool set to have. Also, does anyone know if they were regional ... meaning you could only get the team that was closest to you?

In 1986 McDonald's Restaurants issued team sets regionally. For example, the Green Bay Packers were issued only in Wisconsin. Cities not located near an NFL city were issued an All-Star set. These beautiful full-color action cards measure approximately 3-1/16” by 4-11/16”. These sets were released in just a four-week period. Supplies are very limited.

We got a mix of all of the teams available when I lived in Florida.
A fun set that's inexpensive and nice to look at. Anyone know if these need to be graded like tallboys?

Alright, Matt! You said the magic words. I have four beaters just laying here. Your favorite teams: 'Skins and Giants.
Look for 'em next week!

Matt, here's a Cowboys Team Set for $6.
Is there a page on the site that tells you what cards are considered tall boys and which ones aren't? Maybe they list exceeding dimensions or something? Thanks

<< <i>PSA does grade these but I don't know where they fit in as far what service level you have to submit them in. It would be great if they can be sent in under normal card levels as I've got some serious Tatupu to get graded.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Don Mattingly 1986 Burger King card.....In the middle is George Brett, the card has never been opened, the edges are perforated for separation i believe....I couldn't find any in the pop reports eventhough the card has the MLB logo on the back...wondering if anyone has some info about this issue.....thanks
Each tab color (orange, green, black, and blue) was offered for one week. Some team set colors are inexplicable rare... I think Falcons Orange was crazy expensive at some point.
The Payton card pictured by Sheamaster on Page 1 is from the 1985 McDonald's Bears set. They only issued Bears in 1985. In 1993 McDonald's once again issued NFL cards in regional team and national all-star formats. These were issued as uncut sheets in the "Gameday" style, and are probably the ones mmsportscards mentioned on Page 1.
As others have posted, PSA does grade them and they are are considered tallboys.
The '85 and '86 sets are quite condition sensitive. They're oversized and the scratch off area tends too, well, scratch off. The distribution method didn't help, either. If you have a PSA 9, you're doing great.
All of that said, these are NOT rare OR valuable, even in top shape. The reason is that, like all of the winning McDonald's Monopoly pieces, these were backdoored like crazy. Even today you can find dealers with every team set, in every color, and every team set advertising poster, in never-issued shape, for a few bucks each.
Still a very cool set. This board needs more oddball football discussion
