I'm sure you've gotten this question a million times but do you know what variations are available in the different unopened material (wax, cello, rack, fact. set, etc)?

Thanks

  • No, usually everyone wants to know what the rarest one is.

    Heres what I know-

factory sets-Black Box only. Stated in Beckett and SCD article

Wax-I have yet to crack any wax. Heard of Whiteout, FF, BBox, Saw cut FF and Black Scribbles pulled.

Rack-I have pulled or seen showing on pack- BBox, FF, FF saw cut, White Scribble,White Scribble Saw Cut,Black Scribble.

Cello- Pulled/Seen showing FF, Black Box, Black Scribble, Heard of a Whiteout showing a guy has (pic unavail.) and a version I have yet to own was in cello only.

The Black Scribble has many variations as does the BBox. I dont have the packing specifics on those.

Careful as I have encountered many searched/resealed cases. Probally done when that card was $200.

  • Thank you. I'm printing that out.

Were there colation patterns in the '89 Fleer so that people could actually know which cellos and racks would have a Ripken in them? How accurate are they if there are some? I'd like to open some racks but I'll probably shy away if they're that easy to pick through.

Thanks again for the info. Much appreciated.

  • Heard of wax pattern for FF pack in same spot. I never tried. One said it worked another said it didnt.

Cello has patterns as my cello case from the kid didnt have one Ripken only minor stars showing and only 4 Griffeys.

Racks have 2-3 patterns and cases easily resealed.
