NEW YORK -- Mets pitcher Tom Glavine filed provisionally for free agency Thursday, still uncertain whether he wants to stay in New York or try to go back to the Atlanta Braves.
Glavine has until Friday to exercise a $7.5 million player option, and the Mets have until Nov. 20 to exercise a $14 million team option. The options carry a $3 million buyout and both are likely to be declined.

The Braves and their fans still cant get over seeing Maddux win number 300 in a Cubs uniform, so Id look for them to bring Glavine back to get his 300th there.

Mets will have an average-at-best pitching staff this year (Assuming the sigh mussina), but their pitching isn't what makes them special, it's their offense.
can the Phillies compete with them ? tune in summer of '07

<< <i>just a formality, he will be signing with the Mets for 2 years at 10-12 mil per.

Don't think so.
I think he'll be going home and playing for the Braves again.
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
<< <i>How much longer can this guy pitch effectively anyway? >>
Guys like him can pitch effectively until they are 40+, as they aren't relying on heat to be effective. He's a pitcher, not a thrower, so there's no reason to think he can't come back for a few more years.
Hell, Jamie Moyer is pitching well at 44 and just signed a 2 year extension.
<< <i>Is there talk of Mussina ending up with the Mets? I have been away for awhile... >>
There was a mention of Mussina wanting to stay with the Yanks and possibly signing a 2 year 22-24 million dollar contract.
