Aftermarket gold stamps

Does anyone know how easy it is to go through the trouble of creating what is needed for aftermarket gold stamping. I mean creating an actual logo on a card and than the 1/1 or what ever number is needed stamp? I remember on the same subject the Topps buybacks that were in packs of 2001 and 2002 Topps products that had some type of indentation from Topps on them, but all of a sudden there were a ton of cards on the market that werent even listed as being part of the buyback program that were being listed on ebay. Just seeing how possible it is and cost effective for someone to go through this trouble to try and counterfeit an actual card that hasthis type of stamping and how it would be done? There is a reason I'm asking this, but am just curious what answers I hear on here..........

  • Im would assume someone has a job that they could easily create such a stamp. I know the 1/1 stamp is easily made as I have seen a few custom cards with 1/1 on them in gold. Unsure if gold foil or just number stamp with gold pen filled in.

  • Just go to your local stationary store and see if they have stampers, and if they do, look for the hand held squeezable ones they are like made of metal, basically used to creating logos and seal marks on documents, then remove the plate and get it customized to stamp 1/1 or what ever it is you want. Then you get the item that you want stamped, and buy some sheets of gold leaf put them in between the stamper and card and squeeze gentle and wa la... instant 1 of 1.

If you were really smart, forget the 1/1 make a few odd ball ones 25/75 05/25 2/10 and use the silver foil. image

For the stamper I'm refering to is this one.

So how hard would it be to make, lets say, a Topps autograph logo and a Topps Archive logo and start printing out your own autographed cards that you sign yourself on commons?
  • I have no idea, I'm not into number cards. I'm sure somebody with graphic arts experience can tell you that.
Only reason I know about the stampers is because I saw a document forging ring a long time ago on cable tv.
