(Held one in my hand at the Baltimore Show last year...but that's as far as I've gotten with one)
Yes, Steve will be joining the thread anytime now. He'll probably be able to provide recent sales data.

Supply and dsmand, I suppose.
This IS an actual rarity (as opposed to a condition rarity) in a popular series.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
What!? Still no Steve??

I guess Steve is SPEECHLESS !

I mean, c'mon, how many on eBay in the last year went unsold above $7,500 (& less) or so.
If you guys think these are bona fide bids in a genuine arms length transaction I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
Seriously, I imagine a couple of registry guys who need this coin decided they needed it NOW. The PCGS pop is now 77 with 17 at NGC. I doubt that more than 100 have been certified by the top TPG's, probably including some resubmits. I think most knowledgeable collectors continue to believe that less than 200 actually exist today. It is this actual rarity, as David says above, that drives collectors to push their bids higher for this coin IMHO.
A similar trend exists with the 1909VDB Matte proof which is up for auction at the end of the month at the Heritage auction in Dallas. Every Lincoln cent collector who chooses to include Lincoln cent proofs in his collection needs both the 1909VDB and the 1990 no S. If there are less than 200 of each in existence, what do you think will happen to the prices of these two coins over time regardless if they are PR60 or PR70 or somewhere in between?

I agree, Steve. That Matte Proof VDB in the Heritage sale is already getting up there.

Picked up a nice set in Baltimore. I think the coin will grade 67DCAM (no spots or haze, just a super light line in the field behind the portrait)
PM Any interest!

Finest Toned Ike I've Ever Seen, been looking since 1986
It is also reflected in my Inventory listing within my Set Registry. With the new program we can see everyday exactly how much all our inputted PCGS slabs are valued at (retail). A great add-on I believe.

Segoja,
At the Balt. show this past summer, I watched a PR67DCAM 1990 NO S get sold and then bought right in front of my face for $7200. Are you going to crack it out and submit or are you looking to sell the set as is?
