  • The funny thing is, in todays game most of the early hits on that video would've been flagged for leading with the helmet. Escpecially the ones on the qb's

    Nice video though

Thats why I like watching the video over and over, Todays game although still my favorite sport, is a watered down variety of days past.

That was awesome. The clips of Earl Campbell are alone worth the price of admission.

The one one where Campbell is hit by Jack Tatum at the goal line is awesome, I saw an interview once where Campbell said it was the only time anyone ever knocked him off his feet.
The other one of Campbell putting his head in The Rams linebackers chest is great too !

Wow! Those were some serious vicious hits back in the olden days. It seems all of them were illegal, now anyways. Im surprised there wasnt more deaths in the game back then.
  • Yeah, the fair catch rule change probably saved a life or two!

Great shots. Campbell was a beast. Was that a young Bill Cowher with the 'stache on the sideline? A number of those old school hits would result in suspensions by the NFL today, though.

  • Can you imagine the fines from that video alone?

    Very nice compilation.

The Steve A. (Denver Broncos #27)/Okoye hit was terrific, as well.

(Was forbidden from using Steve A. (Denver Broncos#27)'s last name because it contained a banned synonym for whisker biscuit, beef curtains, bat wings, hatchet wound, prune dangle, etc.)

Hate the Tatum/Sammy White Super Bowl hit. Was eight. That game broke my heart.

Great clip...thanks for sharing the link.

I agree with the above posters...how many of those hits would be illegal in today's game?
  • Ouch and Hell yeah!

The Helicopter move by the Dolphins receiver (Nat Moore, was it?) is a real famous one....but, I agree with the Earl Campbell ones. The one where he drops his head into the chest of the Ram defender and blows him up is awesome!
