Was the November #2 Special Changed to Include Baseball??

IU just saw the copy on the special #2 which at one time I believe excluded baseball, now the special makes no mention of it being excluded.

The copy is pasted below:

I called customer service last week and they indicated Baseball cards are permitted under the special.

that is phenomenal!!! no breaks for the graders any time soon with these 2 new specials and I doubt the turn around times will be remotely close to what we have seen in the past, expect tosee some submisions running over into 2007. no complaints though as these are 2 great specials!!!
  • thats awesome news! I woulda totally missed it too if I didn't read your post! I was kinda bummed when I saw no baseball in that special because I have some modern junk I need slabbed. Now its time to check out what I will be sending to PSA this month!

Awesome! Thanks for posting about this. I had not noticed the change. Or maybe it's bad news... I have about 100 modern garbage baseball cards to send in and just when I was trying to spend less money. Oh well!

Wait a minute - I personally spoke to Carol (Hi Carol!) at the Boston Shriners show on Friday, and I was told that baseball cards were not allowed under the modern 1972-up $5 special, but they were allowed on the "vintage" special #1. Unless PSA changed this today, in which case they would have probably posted something about it, I would check before I sent any modern baseball in on the $5 special.

I spoke to them Friday and asked the question several different ways and was assured Baseball was permitted. The way the ad is written also indicates Sports cards. I am sure there will be the usual confusion. I for one have a group of modern baseball on the way based on information given. The add certainly does not clear it up. It says This special is valid for Sports and Non-Sports Cards from 1972 to present for $5 each - 25 card minimum . Nowhere does it say on the front of the ad or the text underneath that baseball cards are excluded. If any one gets further clarification please let us know.

That is exactly what I mentioned to Carol. But, if you look at the graphic in the box ad, it says "basketball, football, and hockey" - clearly intending to exclude baseball cards. I sent a sub in Friday, and deliberately left baseball cards out because of this.

The box also leaves out Non-Sports cards on the front. Then clarifies it in the text behind to say sports cards and non-sports cards. We will not settle this on between us, hopefully we can get the attention of PSA to put further clarifying information out as we are getting conflicting information.

Further update, I just 5 seconds ago got an email from Benny in customer service confirming baseball is allowed under the modern special.

I would think that they have changed it to INCLUDE baseball because when the special first posted, I remember it very well saying that it was only basketball, football, hockey, etc. Baseball was not included. Now, it says SPORTSCARDS. Unless I hear differently, I'm sending baseball.

Thank goodness that they came to their senses and I caught the modification. I'm getting close to completing some minor modern issues and wanted to get all the cards tht I had waiting to go in on a single sub early in the month. Then maybe I can sneak a second one in at the end of the month without the wife catching on image

When I spoke to you on Friday at the show I was unaware of the change. I did get a call at the end of business Friday (end of business Pacific Time so that was around 9 PM Eastern) letting me know of the addition. Since I wasn't in the office when the decision was made I can only speculate that we had a lot of requests for it and Joe decided to add it.

I'll try and have the graphic changed this week but you can submit any sport or non-sport card from 1972 to present now.

    PS:

It was nice meeting a few board members this past weekend that I haven't met before.
