OT-Cali contractor jobs?

A bud of mine is moving out to San Diego in May 07(he's in the Navy, a Nuke Tech) and I've been invited to move out there with him. We're drinking buds, and I've known him for shoot, 6-7 years now. I don't have anything to tie me down out here in DC, so I'm down like 18 flats on a Semi to move out there. Is anyone from the San Diego area, and know any housing/home renovation contracting companies that I can contact for employment? I have about 1.5 years of experience in various contracting niches. Mainly kitchen/bath remodeling, but I'd be more than willing to try a new field in the residential contracting sector just so I can move out there. If anyone can relay some info to me, any help would be great! Thanks guys/gals.
